‘There’s a bit of noise around Tevita’: Broncos star fuels rumours of return of talented forward

Broncos star Pat Carrigan says he’d “love to see” former teammate Tevita Pangai Jr back at the club after the talented forward was snapped watching pre-season training at Red Hill during the week.

Pangai Jr sensationally walked away from a $750,000 a year contract with the Bulldogs at the end of last season to pursue a boxing career.

The images of Pangai Jr at Broncos training sent the rumour mill into overdrive about whether the Blues representative was eyeing a return to the league.

Carrigan didn’t exactly fan the flames when asked about the status of his good mate on Saturday.

“There’s a bit of noise around Tevita,” Carrigan told The Daily Telegraph.

“He’s just moved back to Brissy and training down at Logan.

“We are close, Tevita, myself and Payne (Haas). I’d love to see him back at the Broncos.

“He retired and I think he’s enjoying his challenges with boxing, but we’ll see what happens.”

Pangai Jr debuted for Brisbane in 2016, playing 96 games for the club before being forced out.

He then signed the Bulldogs, playing two seasons there before making the call to shift his focus to boxing.

While Pangai Jr was rewarded with a maiden Blues jersey in Game I of 2023, his form for the struggling Dogs was inconsistent.
